Emile Durkheim

Hello:

In my area of study I like so much the statistics, because I think that this is a way to explain to the people who work the society.

In the sociology, we can see a lot authors, but I think that Emile Durkheim is important to the sociology, because whit his book “The suicide” provides the new form to view the society.

“The suicide”, is a book written in 1897, by Emilie Durkheim, in this text, the author tries explaining the phenomenon of suicide from a point of view sociologist, living alone a psychologist view. In this book and to develop the investigation, he did an investigation based on frequency tabs. Although, now this investigation would be a basic and more general, but in his époque the investigation was a really discovery, because he can compare the suicide in the religions (Protestantism, catholic, and Jewish), in the marital status and in the age of the people to die.

Emile Durkheim, for me is a great author, for his contribution to the social sciences in general, but in specially to the sociology. With this author, the statics were positioned like a way to measure the social phenomenon, and we can develop the investigation in more form that the interview.

I hope have a nice day!
